This painting refers to the Hong Kong protests of 2019 using visual metaphor. Umbrellas, represented by the mushroom, became a symbol of the protests. The mushroom shields the firefly which represents the hope of Hongkongers.

In 2019, Ahoy was invited to participate in Game Of Shrooms by Attaboy, founder of Hi-Fructose magazine. Game Of Shrooms is an annual worldwide event, now with hundreds of people hiding mushroom art they've created for people to find, leaving clues on their Instagram page as to where the art is located.
The works she created were of a Parasol Mushroom shielding smaller mushrooms and Puffball Mushrooms defiantly spreading their spore, attached. On the day of Game Of Shrooms in June 2019, Ahoy hid mushroom risoprints before the largest protest in Hong Kong's history occurred – 2 million people protested to signal their opposition to an extradition bill and the growing reach of the Chinese Communist Party into the governance of Hong Kong. During that year, rolling protests were occurring in all parts of Hong Kong until the COVID pandemic and a national security law were implemented. Since then, a second national security law has been implemented, thousands of people have been arrested, and voices of opposition have been jailed, are still awaiting trial, or have left Hong Kong in self-imposed exile.
For the artist Ahoy, the symbolism of mushrooms is now intrinsically tied to movements which stand for freedom from authoritarianism and oppression, and the connectivity and diaspora of all people who wish for this, similar to a mycelial network.
