Leadzanger Hans Bos van de band ‘Soft Parade’ keert terug met de nieuwe band 'MonThruSun'. Na een uiterst creatieve samenwerking met Dave Stewart (Eurythmics) die de bejubelde albums ‘Puur’ en ‘Get Well Soon’ opleverde, stopte ‘Soft Parade’ in 1996. De behoefte om zijn gevoelens te vertalen naar muziek is bij Bos nooit weggeëbd en dat levert nu een wervelende verzameling nieuwe nummers op. 

Onder de titel Let My Heart Not Become Blind zijn elf nieuwe songs verschenen. Ze worden door Hans Bos gezongen en begeleid door onder anderen gitarist Robin Berlijn (Fatal Flowers), bassist Dick Brouwers (Daryl Ann) en drummer/producer Remco Schouten (Stephen Malkmus, Zzz, Bull). 
Bos schrijft melodieuze popsongs, voorzien van stevige teksten en een rijke begeleiding, hier en daar voorzien van koortjes, strijkers en blazers, zoals in Something New, Sorry en Home. En in het indrukwekkende Family, it’s our blood met daarin de mooie tekst ‘Our veins are like rivers / coming from the same top / your beauty makes us givers’. 
Dit nummer heeft een  een sleutelrol in de speelfilm ‘Hemelrijken’ gekregen. Deze film is afgelopen januari 2020 uitgezonden bij NPO3.

De openingssong Moon zet de luisteraar al meteen op het spoor van de Britse muziektraditie die door het werk van Bos heen schemert. Met zijn licht nasale stemgeluid, het inzetten van een mondharmonica en het gebruik van een achtergrondkoortje roept hij het werk van oa The Kinks op. In de rustigere liedjes Family, it’s our blood, Something New en Inking Black zet hij het lage register van zijn stem in en brengt hij de bijna vergeten Britse zanger Kevin Ayers in herinnering.

Bij de meeste songs zijn videoclips gemaakt: Bara Lockefeer (Sorry), Willem Jan Bloem (Een Vandaag - Make Wishes), Eric Maas (Hole in Your Head), Stanley Kolk (Hemelrijken, TV film NPO 1 - Family, it’s our Blood), August Swietkowiak (Inking Black), Constant Brinkman (Powerlack),  Susanne Engels (Moon) en Marjolein Hendrickx (I Can Be Who I Want).

About the record

MonThruSun's music is Velvet Underground-esque, but at the same time contemporary with a today's sound. The songs feel familiar and urgent, with their own touch and exciting arrangements they surprise: intriguing and beautifully complex. With a musical star ensemble of, among others, Dick Brouwers and Robin Berlin, Hans Bos knows how to touch the modern soul with a voice that is as clear as Bowie and warm as Stuart Staples.

The song "Family, it's Our Blood" plays a key role in the film "Hemelrijk" by director Stanley Kolk. On May 12, the album will be officially presented via a live stream under the direction of Jim Jansen and fragments of the try-out with a ten-piece band in the Vondelkerk, and video clips will be streamed.

Lead singer Hans Bos of the band "Soft Parade" returns with the new band "MonThruSun". After an extremely creative collaboration with Dave Stewart (Eurythmics) that resulted in the acclaimed albums 'Pure' and 'Get Well Soon', 'Soft Parade' ended in 1996. The need to translate his feelings into music has never died down at Bos and now yields a dazzling collection of new songs.

Eleven new songs have been released under the title Let My Heart Not Become Blind. They are sung by Hans Bos and accompanied by guitarist Robin Berlin (Fatal Flowers), bassist Dick Brouwers (Daryl Ann) and drummer / producer Remco Schouten (Stephen Malkmus, Zzz, Bull), among others.
Bos writes melodic pop songs, with strong lyrics and rich accompaniment, here and there with choirs, strings and wind instruments, such as in Something New, Sorry and Home. And in the impressive Family, it's our blood with the beautiful text "Our veins are like rivers / coming from the same top / your beauty makes us givers". This song has a key role in the feature film "Hemelrijk". This film was broadcast on NPO3 last January 2020.

The opening song Moon immediately puts the listener on the trail of the British music tradition that shines through Bos's work. With his light nasal voice, the use of a harmonica and the use of a backing chorus, he evokes the work of The Kinks, among others. In the quieter songs Family, It's Our Blood, Something New and Inking Black, he uses the low register of his voice and remembers the almost forgotten British singer Kevin Ayers.
