Zoé's original and recognizable paintings are inspired by vintage photography and film noir in a mix of pop culture and science fiction icons. They give us an alienating almost nostalgic image of the future through historical and contemporary portraits: a bizarre world, beautifully crafted on canvas with acrylic paint and airbrush techniques. The paintings of Zoé Byland recall the time of polite girls in their best clothes posing for the family portrait, but she undermines our expectations with a haze of mystery by a series of strange additions to her images.

De schilderijen van Zoé Byland zijn geïnspireerd op vintage fotografie en film noir die zij mixt met iconen uit de popcultuur en science fiction. Ze geven ons een vervreemdend bijna nostalgisch beeld op de toekomst. Een bizarre wereld, prachtig vormgegeven op doek met acryl verf en airbrush technieken. De schilderijen van Zoé Byland herinneren aan de tijd van keurige meisjes in hun beste kleding poserend voor het familie portret. Maar ze ondermijnt onze verwachtingen met een waas van geheimzinnigheid door een reeks vreemde toevoegingen aan haar beelden.
