Voor het eerst te zien bij Koch en Bos; de fotografie van Tessa Posthuma de Boer – beelden met zorgvuldig gecomponeerde composities en een krachtige, sfeervolle uitstraling. Tessa is aanwezig van 16:00 tot 19:00 uur.
Daarnaast tonen we nieuwe werken van Claire Partington, Martine Johanna en Jeffery Chong Wang en nieuwe keramiek van People's Republic – ‘Wedgwood meets Punk’.
En natuurlijk... veel kunstboeken, gelimiteerde edities, poëzie, tijdschriften en posters.

"Truth, Justice, Beauty, and Respect." Op de beker met typisch jaren ‘60 Wedgwood print staan deze vier woorden centraal. Gemaakt door People’s Republic of Stokes Croft (PRSC), een activistische kunstenaarsgemeenschap uit Bristol die voor de Wintershow wederom weer samenwerkt met de Amsterdamse Koch en Bos Gallery.
In deze Wintershow is er weer extra aandacht voor People's Republic uit Bristol en hun servies: stevige statements die de wereld in beweging houden. We presenteren nieuwe unieke ‘statement servies stukken’: borden, bekers en theepotten.

Hoe het zo kwam
De liefde voor de Peoples’s Republic is ontstaan in 2015, toen Koch en Bos de stad Bristol bezochten voor Dismaland, de expositie van Banksy. Peoples Republic is een community die zorg draagt voor de wijk Stokes Croft in Bristol. Dat doen ze onder andere via het verkopen van servies (China) en een boekhandel.
De oprichter Chris Chalkley, in de jaren '90 een marketeer in keramiek en glas, bevond zich in een unieke positie toen grote pottenbakkerijen failliet gingen - om ovens, apparatuur en ongebruikte (design)transfers te redden. Samen met kunstenaars en ontwerpers ging hij aan de slag om daarmee een duurzame keramiek werkplaats te starten in de wijk Stokes Croft.
Hans Bos en Esther Koch proberen alert te zijn op de bewegingen in de samenleving en de galerie kun je zien als een goede plek om dit naar buiten te brengen. Dit is zo’n moment. We geloven in de People’s Republic energie en bieden ze graag de ruimte.
Naast de lancering van het servies is het ook de opening van de Wintershow met geselecteerde werken van onder andere Martine Johanna, en Claire Partington. Onder het genot van Hot cocoa & Cointreau of bubbels kun je genieten van een mooie selectie schilderijen, zeefdrukken, kunstboeken en mooie kaarten, en vind je bijzondere cadeaus voor de feestdagen.

Hot cocoa & Cointreau, bubbles, art, and tableware!
For the first time at KochxBos: the photography of Tessa Posthuma de Boer – images with carefully crafted compositions and a strong, evocative atmosphere. Tessa will be present from 4 PM to 7 PM.
We’re also showcasing new works by Claire Partington, Martine Johanna, and Jeffery Chong Wang, along with new ceramics by People’s Republic – ‘Wedgwood meets Punk’.
And of course… plenty of art books, limited editions, poetry, magazines, and posters.

The Winter Show will be on view from November 30 to December 21.
"Truth, Justice, Beauty, and Respect."
These four words feature prominently on a mug with a classic 1960s Wedgwood-style print, created by People’s Republic of Stokes Croft (PRSC), an activist art community from Bristol. For this Winter Show, PRSC once again collaborates with Amsterdam’s KochxBos Gallery.
This year, the Winter Show highlights People’s Republic and their statement tableware: bold messages designed to inspire change. We’re presenting new and unique statement tableware pieces – plates, mugs, and teapots.

How it all started
The love for People’s Republic began in 2015 when Hans Bos and Esther Koch visited Bristol for Banksy’s Dismaland exhibition. PRSC is a community dedicated to caring for the Stokes Croft neighborhood in Bristol, which they support through activities like selling ceramics and running a bookshop.
Founder Chris Chalkley, who worked as a marketer in ceramics and glass in the 1990s, found himself in a unique position when large pottery factories began shutting down. He salvaged kilns, equipment, and unused (vintage) design transfers, and together with artists and designers, established a sustainable ceramics workshop in Stokes Croft.
Hans Bos and Esther Koch aim to stay attuned to social movements and see the gallery as a platform to amplify these voices. This collaboration is one such moment. They believe in the energy of People’s Republic and are proud to give them a stage.
In addition to the launch of the tableware, the Winter Show opening features selected works by Martine Johanna and Claire Partington. Enjoy a cup of hot cocoa & Cointreau or a glass of bubbles while exploring a curated selection of paintings, screen prints, art books, and beautiful holiday gifts.
