Yu Meada

Yu Maeda graduated from Kyoto Seika University Department of Design. As a freelancer,  he creates advertising animations such as Commercials and Music Videos.Moved to Southern California and started painting in 2013. His articles has appeared in art magazines such as Hi-Fructose and Juxtapoz magazines. First solo exhibition in Superchief Gallery LA in 2019. Returned to Japan in 2020. Solo exhibitions in Superchief gallery in NY and Fomo gallery in Taiwan in 2021.

He explore new forms of visual expression in my paintings, sculptures, and animations, moving back and forth between the East and the West, including the influences of Western lowbrow art and psychedelic art, and Eastern mandalas, Buddhist art, and animism.
Maeda uses simple circles, straight lines, and curves to reconstruct the complex and organic shapes of nature and living things, creating images that can be viewed from multiple perspectives.

Yu Maeda was part of the Popland 2.0 Exhibition in 2021.
